Question 01
Part A : Reading Test (50 Marks)
Read
the passage. Then answer the questions below.
Try
to observe a good teacher and you will see that he does not sit motionless before his class. He walks about the class if and
when he feels it a necessity. He uses his eyes, arms, hands and fingers as
a means of communication with his students. The fact that a good teacher is
a good actor does not, however, mean that a good teacher will act well on a
theatrical stage. He is not an actor in that sense. He shares some
qualities of a good actor. The teacher- actor is quite different from the
stage actor. The stage actor has to speak out his fixed and memorized
words. He cannot go beyond that. He is chained to his fixed speech.
Besides, there is no exchange of words between his audience and himself. On
the other hand, the teacher- actor plays his role in his own style. He is not chained to fixed rules.
He speaks as he feels. He changes to meet the needs of his audience. His
audiences also speak. There is an exchange of ideas between the teacher and
his audiences. Thus the class becomes communicative and lively and lively.
